Forest School
We are delighted to introduce our very own Forest School
We would like to thank the PTA for all their efforts to raise funds that have enabled us to launch our Forest School this term.
We have also applied for grants from Tesco, Co-op, Learning through Landscapes, Loughborough University and
The Wymeswold Village Project Fund which have been successful. Thank you also to parents who have donated equipment and their time.
Our village school benefits from a great outdoor space so we have managed to create a separate area for our Forest School.
We have a log circle for reading and sharing time, several mud kitchens, bug hotels, a large field and many trees.
We will keep you updated via our social media and you can also see how the space develops when you visit the school.

Forest School Leader: Kerry Hart
Kerry is the founder of Willoughby Woods Forest school and an experienced and accredited Forest School Leader. She is also a qualified Early Years teacher who shares her passion for outdoor learning with her two children. Kerry has over 10 years’ experience of working in primary schools and believes the true ethos of Forest School is simply nature-based play. Our aim is to introduce as many children as possible to the unlimited opportunities the natural environment has to offer. Through play, children are able to appreciate all forms of nature and enjoy a sense of freedom. Through the combination of independent and group-led activities based on a holistic approach, children are able to reach their full potential. The children are given the opportunity to completely engross themselves in open ended play and discovery, both complement our curriculum and following our core values of Dream, Believe, Learn and Achieve. |
