Forest School

Welcome to Forest School at Wymeswold Primary School.

Before looking ahead to the exciting opportunities that Forest School continues to offer our children, we would like to take a moment to recognise and thank Kerry Hart for her outstanding dedication and commitment over the years.
Kerry has played a pivotal role in the learning journeys of countless children at Wymeswold Primary School. Through her passion, enthusiasm and expertise, she helped establish the strong foundations of our Forest School programme, creating a nurturing environment where children could explore, discover and grow in confidence through outdoor learning. Her hard work and vision have left a lasting legacy, and we are incredibly grateful for the positive impact she has had on both our pupils and our school community.
As we build upon the foundations Kerry has created, we remain committed to providing meaningful outdoor learning experiences that inspire curiosity, resilience, creativity and a lifelong connection with the natural world.
Our village school benefits from a great outdoor space so we have managed to create a separate area for our Forest School.
We have a log circle for reading and sharing time, bug hotels, a large field and many trees.

We will keep you updated via our newsletter and you can also see how the space develops when you visit the school.
Forest School Leader: Ms. Davis

Ms. Davis is delighted to be taking on the role of Forest School Leader, following in the footsteps of Kerry. Having supported Forest School sessions alongside Kerry, she has seen first-hand the positive impact she has had on the children and has greatly admired the inspiring work that has helped enrich their learning and well-being.
With over 10 years of classroom teaching experience, Ms. Davis is excited to extend her role into outdoor learning. In July, she will begin training towards her Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification and is looking forward to sharing this journey with the children of Wymeswold as she develops her skills and knowledge.
Ms. Davis is passionate about the many benefits that time spent in nature can bring to both children and adults. She firmly believes that opportunities to explore the natural world play an important role in supporting mental health, well-being and resilience, helping children to become confident, happy learners. In a world increasingly shaped by technology and indoor living, she feels it is more important than ever that children are given time to slow down, develop practical skills, build meaningful connections and experience the joy of learning outdoors.
Through the combination of independent and group-led activities based on a holistic approach, children are able
to reach their full potential. The children are given the opportunity to completely engross themselves in open
ended play and discovery, both complement our curriculum and following our core values of Dream, Believe, Learn and Achieve.
